The James Murray Children's Home

Building work now complete see pictures below

This was a unexpected action which took us and the local community by surprise

After the demolition of the Kambi Suswa slum area of Moi's Bridge we found ourselves with 94 children homeless. While all were found some form of accommodation and we were able, through the generosity of local churches, to provide blankets and mattresses there were other problems that emerged. A small number of the girls were found to be in dwellings where they were mistreated. After a quick discussion it was decided to provide an accommodation block at the school with staff accommodation as well. There was a lot of discussion and a number of issues that needed to be resolved before we could start work, not least the funding of it.

Initial draft plans for the first building at the James Murray Children's Home in Kenya
